What Happens if Kidneys Fail?

The normal kidney has the ability to greatly increase its work load. If one kidney is lost, the other kidney can enlarge and do the work of two. However, if both kidneys fail, then wastes and fluids would accumulate in your body and you would need dialysis treatment (the cleaning of your blood either by a machine or in your abdomen), or a kidney transplant.
